The Whitehouse Rescue Squad is made up of all types of people who come from Readington, Tewksbury, Lebanon, Clinton Township and as far away as Stockton and Pennsylvania to volunteer their time. They serve as Emergency Medical Technicians, Rescue Personnel, Administrative Support, and Community Outreach. WHRS diversity is represented in our leaders. Please take a moment to read about their backgrounds.
The organization is governed by a Board of Trustees. The Board is responsible for finance, planning, community outreach, recruitment and retention, etc. The Board is elected annually for one and two year terms in November. The Board appoints a Chief, and the Chief appoints his operational leaders.
2009 Board of Trustees: Laurene Fleming, Bea Liothake, Robert Vergalito, Bob Rainey, Kelly Campbell, Ushma Patel, Molly Werner
President of the Board of Trustees: Bob Rainey Bob has been a member of the Whitehouse Rescue Squad for seven years. He has previously held the Treasurer and Chief positions. His is a Master Technician with the squad’s Rescue Services Unit. Bob is a member of the Hunterdon County Technical Rescue Task Force. Bob is a certified CPR/First Aid and CEVO-3 instructor. He is an electrical engineer, and has two adult children.
Chief: Jeffrey Herzog Jeff has been part of emergency services for seventeen years, serving as the Chief of the Whitehouse Squad from 1998 through 2006, providing leadership for thousands of calls including Hurricane Floyd, Y2K events, response to the September 11th attacks, and other localized major incidents. Jeff has extensive rescue services training in various disciplines of rescue services. In addition to serving on various countywide agencies for leadership and management, Jeff is responsible for the overall operational management and strategic planning of the organization.
Deputy Chief of EMS: Lissa Ross Lissa has been with the Whitehouse Rescue Squad since July 2008. Lissa is also the Chief of the High Bridge Emergency Squad and Secretary of the Hunterdon County EMS Squad Chief's Association. Lissa is responsible for the EMS operations of the squad.
Deputy Chief of Rescue Services: Brayden Fahey Brayden is responsible for the WHRS Rescue Services Division. Brayden has extensive training in technical rescue and also serves as EMS Coordinator for the County of Hunterdon.
Treasurer: Ushma Patel has been a member since 2001 and an EMT since 2002. She is a resident of Readington since 1999 and has three children in high school.
Secretary: Laurene Fleming has been a member and EMT for seven years. She has been active each year in organizing our EMS support for the Balloon Festival held each year at the end of July at Solberg Airport. Laurene is also the Coordinator for Hunterdon County Emergency Management.
