Each year, the Whitehouse Rescue Squad sends our personnel to various locations in our community. We provide glow bracelets to the children and provide a presence for safety.
Parents are encouraged to approach the apparatus with their children to receive safety items and meet their local rescuers.
Whitehouse Rescue board member Molly Werner said "This is a very well received event by our residents. Parents feel comforted knowing that there are EMTs in place should medical assistance be needed."
The squad will have rigs in Lake Cushetunk, Whitehouse Village and Lebanon Borough.
Here are some Halloween Safety Tips:
| HALLOWEEN SAFETY TIPS |
- Attach reflective tape to costumes and trick-or-treat bags.
- Choose costumes that are flame retardant and short enough not to trip over.
- Choose masks that allow for good peripheral vision — or consider a fun hat instead!
- Make sure young trick-or-treaters are with a parent or responsible adult.
- Plan a route for your child and make sure they stick to it.
- Tell children to visit only homes that have the lights on.
- Remind children to cross the street in the crosswalk only.
- Tell children never to enter a stranger's house — accept treats in the doorway only.
- Clear your yard of any tripping hazards such as garden hoses or flowerpots.
- Decorate with electric Jack-O-Lanterns instead of candles.
