Volunteer Membership Opportunities Available at Whitehouse Rescue Squad

The Whitehouse First Aid & Rescue Squad is looking for volunteers from the community to provide emergency medical care and rescue services for the majority of Readington Township, most of Lebanon Borough including the Lebanon Commons and the Grist Mill area, and parts of Tewksbury and Clinton Townships.

The squad, located on Main Street in Whitehouse Station, depends on the community to care for the sick and injured. There are several ways that citizens can help. There is the “Certified” or “Full Membership” where the volunteer is trained to become an Emergency Medical Technician and runs a certain amount of duty time a month. Duty time consists of being at station or nearby and being responsible for responding to emergency medical calls. There are monthly meetings and drills at the station as well, in the evenings and on weekends.

Also available are memberships for already certified EMTs that live outside of the area but want to run duty time with the Whitehouse Squad. A “Rescue Associate” membership class is available for those that are interested in running duty time for rescue related calls (vehicle, water, confined space rescue, structural collapse, etc.) Certified members can also participate in the Rescue Services Unit.

Specialized training and equipment for each membership class is provided free of charge for all volunteers.

The squad’s long time chief, a resident of Lebanon Borough, is available to discuss details regarding volunteering at Whitehouse Rescue. He can be reached personally at (908) 823-0417. Information regarding membership can also be found by visiting the station, going to the website, www.whirehouserescue.com, or by calling the membership hotline at (908) 534-0609.
