Marriage and the Squad
Experts say that the happiest marriages are among husbands and wives who share common interests. Whats more, it makes no difference if these interests develop before or after getting married.
Meet Bea & George Liothake. They live in downtown Whitehouse Station with their three very good dogs. Both Bea and George have full-time careers and maintain a busy schedule with their large, extended family. As volunteers on the Whitehouse Rescue Squad, they hold two important positions: Bea is Vice President and George is Chief. Their common interests in both the squad and dog rescue strengthen the bonds between them and make their lives together both exciting and interesting. George states, "There is not much time for TV. Instead my wife and I answer calls for help from our neighbors. We train together too!"
Bea adds, "Sometimes it's hard to explain to my friends and co-workers why both my husband and I are trained to extricate victims trapped in their car after an accident. They understand better when I tell them how George and I always have a lot to talk about - whether its how to give better care to patients, or what to do to improve operations at the squad."
George and Bea are one of many many couples on the squad. In fact, marriage and the squad go hand-in-hand. Squad couples share a common passion for helping others through Emegency Medical Services and Rescue. They also reap the personal rewards like Bea and George.
