Whitehouse Rescue Squad Works Hard To Raise Funds
The Whitehouse First Aid and Rescue Squad is depending on the community it serves to help with fund raising and is rewarding them with a chance to win great prizes.
For $20.00 a raffle ticket buys a chance for a trip to Walt Disney World, home improvements, or dry cleaning service. Yvonne Schneider, the squad’s lead fund raiser, is organizing the raffle. The vacation includes a trip for four, a vacation package valued at $4,500 to Disney World. Second place wins you services from Affordable Home Improvements for up to $500.00. Third place is $200.00 worth of dry cleaning from Martinizing Dry Cleaners.
The winners of the raffle will be announced at the Night of Comedy at the Three Bridges Firehouse on Main Street in Three Bridges hosted by the squad. The night will include comedians John Rizzo and Eric Tartaglione, hor’d’ourves and a cash bar, all for $25.00. The comedy night is on October 6th from 7:00 to 10:00.
Also for sale, to raise funds for the rescue squad, are tickets for a Somerset Patriots baseball game. The Patriots are playing the Newark Bears on Saturday, September 16th. The game ends with a fireworks display. Tickets are $10 a piece.
The Whitehouse Rescue Squad depends heavily on the community it provides emergency medical and rescue services to for financial support, along with contributions from the municipalities it covers, including Readington Township, Lebanon Boro, and parts of Clinton and Tewksbury Townships. The squad receives money from the insurance companies of patients transported to the hospital, but the squad about breaks even after paying for staff to supplement its team of about fifty volunteer members.
Jeff Herzog, the squad’s Chief says of the fund raising efforts, “The squad appreciates the support of the community that we serve. This support is needed to ensure that squad keeps its equipment current and to save for future building needs.” The squad has been working for years to update its outdated facilities to accommodate their equipment, a lot of which is left outside to weather. Other needs include specialized training, equipment purchases, and maintenance for vehicles and equipment.
